Donald Rubinstein, compositeur, auteur et artiste visuel a fait ses débuts musicaux à 25 ans, avec la composition de la partition pour le film culte de George A. Romero “Martin”, qui a été nommé dans le “Top 100 des BO les plus cools de tous les temps” par le magazine Mojo (2002). Depuis, il a crée la BO de plusieurs longs métrages ; enregistré 26 CD de musique originale ; composé le titre principal de deux séries de télévision, et enregistré avec de nombreux musiciens de renommée mondiale .
“Fingers”, un duo avec le guitariste Bill Frisell , a été inclus sur le CD de Jazziz Magazine, “A Celebration of the Modern Era”, avec Miles Davis , Charlie Parker , Cassandra Wilson et Charlie Haden. “Ain’t Nothin’ Like a Friend”, co-écrit avec Ed Harris, a été publié sur la BO du long métrage  “Appaloosa”. Il a collaboré avec des artistes aussi  différents que Terry Allen, Kiki Smith, John Densmore, Brother Blue, Robin Holcomb et bien d’autres. Le dernier CD de Donald Rubinstein , “Dawn Imagined” est sorti sur le label Perseverance Records en Février 2014.
Les images de Donald Rubinstein et ses œuvres visuelles ont été montré principalement à New York et Los Angeles . Son travail a été exposé au MOMA , au Whitney Museum of American Art, et dans plusieurs expositions solo en galerie. Il a plus récemment bénéficié d’une bourse et une résidence décernées par la Fondation Robert Rauschenberg (2013, première année d’attribution).

Donald Rubinstein, composer, songwriter and visual artist made his musical debut at age 25, composing the score to George A. Romero’s cult classic film “Martin.” It was named one of the “Top 100 Coolest Soundtracks of All Time” by Mojo magazine (2002).  Since then he has scored several feature films; recorded 26 CDs of original music; main title music for two television series; multiple commissioned works; and performed/recorded with a multitude of world renowned musical artists.
“Fingers,” a duet with guitarist Bill Frisell, was included on Jazziz Magazine’s CD, “A Celebration of the Modern Era,” along with Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, Cassandra Wilson and Charlie Haden. “Ain’t Nothin’ Like a Friend,” co-written with Ed Harris, was released on the soundtrack for the Harris directed feature film “Appaloosa.” He has collaborated with artists as varied as Terry Allen, Kiki Smith, John Densmore, Brother Blue, Robin Holcomb and many others. Rubinstein’s latest CD, “Dawn Imagined” is released on Perseverance Records in February 2014.
Donald Rubinstein’s multimedia and visual works have premiered in both New York City and Los Angeles. His work has been exhibited at The Museum of Modern Art, The Whitney Museum of American Art, and in multiple one-person gallery exhibitions. He was most recently awarded a fellowship and residency awarded by The Robert Rauschenberg Foundation. It is the first year of the award (2013), which is via nomination only.
