Ou le portrait d’une île ; de la naissance à la submersion et la mort, et à la renaissance éventuelle en tant que nouvel écosystème. Une histoire d’amour architecturale abordant les thèmes du changement climatique, de la perte de mémoire culturelle et de l’effet du temps. Avec ce projet, nous voulions repousser les limites de ce que peut être un projet d’urbanisme paysager; un tel projet peut être travaillé comme une œuvre d’art, et trouver une inspiration dans tous les autres domaines de la création et, aspect essentiel, fonctionner en analogie avec de nombreux endroits dans le monde pour cerner l’impact du changement climatique.
A biography of an islands life; from birth to flooding/death and eventual rebirth as a new ecosystem. An architectural love story touching upon the themes of climate change, loss of cultural memory and the effect of time. With this project we wanted to push the boundaries of what a landscape project can be; it can be worked with as a piece of art, it can find inspiration in all other creative fields and importantly it is an analogy for the effect of climate change on many places around the world.

Par les architectes urbanistes Calum Thomas Morrison Mitchell (né en 1994 à Edimbourgh) et Ludvig Bratt (né à Stockholm en 1992).
Calum et Ludvig se rencontrent pendant leurs études à Copenhague. Ce qui les a réunis, c’est leur intérêt à utiliser différentes formes d’art de manière interdisciplinaire afin de créer un projet se déployant sur plusieurs registres. Dans leur projet “Swallowed by the Sound” à propos l’île de Saltholm, située entre Copenhague et Malmö, l’architecture, la musique, l’art, la narration, la géologie et la biologie ont été utilisés pour étudier l’histoire, le présent et l’avenir de Saltholm. Les titres de la playliste dessinent un portrait de Saltholm, de la naissance à la submersion / et la mort.

Calum and Ludvig meet during studies in Copenhagen. What brought them together was their interest in using different art forms in an interdisciplinary way in order to create a project that speaks in various levels. In their project ‘Swallowed by the Sound’ about the island of Saltholm, located between Copenhagen and Malmö; architecture, music, art, storytelling, geology and biology was used to investigate Saltholms history, present and future. The songs in the playlist reflect on the life of Saltholm, from birth to flooding/death.
